Open Doors Russian Scholarship Details
The highly anticipated 9th edition of the Open Doors International Olympiad is here, offering a golden opportunity for aspiring students worldwide.
This year’s Open Doors Russian Scholarship Olympiad presents an array of exciting pathways to higher education and research, including bachelor’s, master’s, postdoctoral, and doctoral programs.
The most significant change this year is the inclusion of bachelor’s and post-doctoral tracks in all 14 subject areas, extending this valuable opportunity to a wider pool of candidates.
2026 Russian Government Open Doors Scholarship Requirements
To be eligible for the 2026 Open Doors Russian Scholarship, applicants must be aware of the following:
- To participate olympiad in the Bachelor track, an education of at least general secondary is required
- To participate olympiad in the Master track, an education of at least higher: Bachelor’s degree is required
- To participate olympiad in the Doctoral track, an education of at least higher: specialty, Master’s degree is required
It is possible to apply without the documents confirming these degrees, but only if one is planning to complete the appropriate level of education in 2025. In this case the documents must be presented as soon as they are issued.
Postdoctoral track requirements are a bit different. Here, the participants must get their PhD or candidate/doctor of science degree no later than the registration start day (September 16).
Additionally, to be allowed to participate, applicants will have to pass a short test in each of the selected subject areas.
It’s designed to make a preliminary evaluation of a participant’s knowledge level and get them acquainted with the Olympiad’s interface. Three attempts at this test are provided.

Open Doors Russian Scholarships Benefits and Timeline
- The Olympiad Open Doors Russian Scholarship will cover the full tuition expenses of all selected candidates to pursue their degree of choice at any Russian university.
- Winners of the Olympiad will be able to enroll for free in the bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral programs of their chosen University. Or, if the postdoctoral track is chosen, to be employed as a researcher in one of the suggested research projects.
- Winners of the doctoral track will be able to choose a future research supervisor and pass an interview with them during the Olympiad. Postdoctoral track winners will be interviewed by research project leaders.
