Iowa State University Borel Global Fellows Program 2027 Benefits

The program offers substantial financial support to graduate students, providing up to $25,000 per year for student stipends, or a combination of partial stipends and research funding.
The funding is available for up to 30 months for Master’s students and up to 42 months for Ph.D. students.
Additionally, funding for travel by both the student and advisor to and from Africa for research purposes is also made available.

Chevening Scholarship Requirements

To be eligible for consideration into the Iowa State University Scholarship, students must fulfill the following criteria:

Admission: Be admitted into a graduate program in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University.
Citizenship: Be a citizen of a Sub-Saharan African country.
Career Commitment: Commit to completing graduate studies as preparation for a career contributing to food security in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Research Location: Complete the majority of their graduate research in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Intention to Work and Live: Demonstrate an intention to work and live in Sub-Saharan Africa after completing their graduate studies.

The Borel Global Fellows Program supports students committed to enhancing African;

food security,
agricultural development, and/or
poverty alleviation to pursue graduate studies at Iowa State University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

a cover letter from the major professor,
the student’s CV, and
a copy of the student’s goal statement.
The major professor’s cover letter should address their commitment to providing the remaining required funding and supporting the student’s research in Sub-Saharan Africa.
