The Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) is an annual initiative offering international students the opportunity to pursue Bachelors, Masters, and PhD degrees at Korean Universities.
In 2026, the Korean Government’s Global Korea Scholarship program aims to grant full scholarships to international students from 156 countries. These scholarships are designed to support both undergraduate and graduate studies in Korea.

GKS Undergraduate Scholarship Requirements 2027
To be eligible for the GKS Undergraduate Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Citizenship:
- Candidates and their parents must possess non-Korean citizenship.
Age:
- KGSP-Undergraduates: Under 25
Health:
- Candidates must be in sound physical and mental health to undertake their studies in Korea.
Degree Requirements:
- KGSP-Undergraduates: Applicants must have a High school diploma
Grades:
- The cumulative grade point average (CGPA) should be 80% or higher; alternatively,
- The CGPA should be 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5, or 3.23/5.0 or higher, or be in the top 20% of their class.
Available Programmes for Korea Government Scholarship
The Korean Government Scholarship encompasses all Diploma, Undergraduate, or Postgraduate courses offered by participating Korean universities.
Please note that academic programs conducted during evenings (night school), short-term programs, online formats, and distance learning programs are not eligible under this scholarship program.
2027 Global Korea Scholarship Benefits and Timeline
The Korean Government Scholarship offers a comprehensive package to selected applicants, including:

- Graduate Degree: 3 years (1 year of language + 2 years of Master’s degree)
- PhD Degree: 4 years (1 year of Korean language + 3 years of PhD degree)

How To Apply for 2027 Global Korea Scholarship (GKS)
Embassy Track
- Applicants can choose up to THREE different universities.
- Applicants cannot select three different departments from a single university.
- At least one chosen university must be from Type B universities.
- Applicants must make their university selections carefully to ensure eligibility.
University Track:
- University track applicants should choose ONE university in their application.
- Preference is given to applicants who fall into categories such as:
- Overseas Koreans
- Applicants from low-income families or underprivileged backgrounds
- Applicants with high scores in English proficiency tests (TOEFL, IELTS)
- Applicants applying for natural science and engineering departments in regional universities
- (Relevant to associate degree applicants) Winners of national-level technical skills competitions
