Japan Government MEXT Research Scholarship Benefits

The MEXT Scholarship 2027 offers comprehensive support covering

  • tuition fees,
  • living expenses,
    • Students receiving the preparatory education and non-regular students: 143,000 yen per month
    • Regular students enrolled in master’s or professional degree courses: 144,000 yen per month
    • Regular students enrolled in doctoral courses: 145,000 yen per month.
    • A supplemental regional allowance of 2,000 yen or 3,000 yen per month will be added to the monthly scholarship amount for the grantees studying or conducting research in specially designated regions.
  • travel costs to and from Japan.

Japan Government Scholarship Requirements

To be eligible for the postgraduate Japan Government Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Applicants must be of foreign nationality and in good health.

  • Applicant’s academic qualifications and age requirements:

    • Applicants for master’s degree must have obtained a bachelor’s degree and be no more than 35 years old;

    • Applicants for doctoral studies must have obtained a master’s degree and have certain academic qualifications level, and the age should not exceed 40 years old.
  • Applicants must demonstrate excellent academic performance.
  • Applicants must also meet the conditions specified by the institution and major you are applying for.
  • You must not also be receiving other types of scholarships from the Chinese government at the same time.

  • Mark Sheet Form
  • Application Form (1 original)
  • Research Plan
  • Attested copy of degree (hope certificate) and transcripts from the last universities attended
  • Attested copy of certification of graduation or degree certificate of university attended (1 copy with original attestation)
  • Recommendation Letter from the president/dean or the academic advisor at the current or last university attended (1 original)
  • Abstract of theses (if applicable) (1 original)
  • Recommendation letter from the present employer (if applicable) (1 original)
