Poland Government Banach Scholarship Details

The Poland Government Stefan Banach Scholarship is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Agency for Academic Exchange NAWA in the form of Polish development aid.

The Banach Scholarship Programme and the Lukasiewicz Scholarship Programme, are merged into one scholarship programme for young people from developing countries who wish to take up studies in Poland.

The Programme aim is to support the socio-economic growth of developing countries (excluding European and Central Asian countries) through raising the level of knowledge and education of their citizens.

Poland Government Stefan Banach Scholarship Benefits

The Stefan Banach Scholarship awardees shall receive an exemption from tuition fees at public universities.

The scholarship shall amount to:

  • monthly scholarship of PLN 2,500
  • exemption from tuition fees at public universities
  • preparatory course funded by NAWA (Polish-track)
  • travel allowance (PLN 2,500)
  • studies in Polish or English
  • Polish language and culture course (English-track)

In the event of a documented fortuitous event, the NAWA Director may, upon a written request of the Scholarship Holder, increase the scholarship by PLN 500 once.

Poland Government Scholarship Requirements

To be eligible for the Poland Government Stefan Banach Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Applicants must be citizens of one of the eligible developing countries.
  • Candidates must not have Polish citizenship and have not applied for Polish citizenship
  • Applicants must have been planning to start a master’s program in the academic year 2024
  • Candidates must have a documented knowledge of the Polish language and English language
  • Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) obtained not earlier than in 2024 in one of the countries covered by the programme.
  • Those who have not yet graduated may apply, provided they obtain their Bachelor’s degree diploma by 15 July 2026.
