Applications are now being invited from all qualified and interested students in developing countries for the 2027 DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarships.
The entirety of the costs of your tuition, accommodation, living expenses, and comprehensive medical insurance during the corresponding academic period are covered by the DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship.
Scholarship holders will find the additional funding options that are available for them to the scholarship holder upon admission to the programme.

DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Details
Currently, the German Government is offering DAAD In-Country/In-Region scholarships for different Master programmes for students from Sub-Saharan African countries at selected institutions.
The In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme supports academics with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the regions of Sub-Saharan Africa, Central and South America, South and Southeast Asia, as well as the Middle East, with a scholarship for a consecutive Master’s degree or a PhD.
Scholarships are awarded in the applicant’s home country/country of residence (in-country scholarships) or in their home region (in-region scholarships).
The objective of the programme is to qualify graduates for taking on positions of responsibility in development-related areas in teaching and research.

DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Benefits
The DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship usually includes:

- monthly scholarship rate
- study and research allowance
- printing allowance for the final thesis
- Only for In-Region Scholarship holders: travel allowance and usually funding for health insurance

2027 DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Requirements
To be eligible for the DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
- The target group for scholarships is graduates and postgraduates from developing countries
- Have a first academic degree if applying for a Master’s programme, or a Master’s degree if applying for a doctoral programme, and want to pursue Master’s or PhD courses in their home country or region.
- Female applicants and candidates from less privileged regions or groups are especially encouraged to participate in the programme.
Duration of funding for 2027 DAAD Africa Scholarships
Funding is provided for the usual duration of a course – generally, up to two years for Masters and up to three years for the PhD degree programmes
