American University Cairo AUC African Scholarships Details
The African Graduate Fellowship is a competitive fellowship program for bright, highly motivated African students interested in pursuing a master’s degree at The American University in Cairo (AUC).
Each year, fellowships are offered to nationals of African countries (not including Egyptians) for full-time study; nine credits or as required by the program in any of the graduate programs offered at the AUC.
The fellowship is awarded for a maximum duration of five semesters and one intervening summer session, with a review every semester for satisfactory academic performance.
American University Cairo Scholarships Requirements
To be eligible for the American University Cairo Scholarships, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
- Non-Egyptian African nationals.
- Holders of a Bachelor of Arts or Science with at least a ‘very good’ overall rating.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent.
- Fulfillment of AUC’s graduate admissions requirements, including application submission, additional documents, and any requisite test scores (GMAT for MBA; GRE for economics, economics in international development, and GRE or GMAT for finance applicants).
- A qualifying score in the International TOEFL iBT or IELTS exam as per AUC’s standards.
- To maintain the fellowship, students must keep a GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Fellows Responsibilities
- Commitment to 12 hours per week of relevant academic work.
- Maintenance of full-time student status.
- Upholding a minimum GPA of 3.2.
- Completion of mandatory training for teaching assistantship roles, if applicable (only once).
Benefits of AUC African Scholarship 2025
The fellowship covers:
- Tuition fees, for a maximum of nine credits per semester
- Stipend
- Student services and activities fees
- Medical service and health insurance fees
- Monthly housing allowance or accommodation in University residences at the AUC New Cairo campus
- May cover remedial English language requirements
Duration:
The fellowship spans two academic years and the interceding summer session.
Additional Opportunities:
- Students are eligible for up to $100,000 in student loans for Master’s in the US or Canada.
