McNeese State University Scholarship Details

McNeese State University Scholarship opened application for One M.S. Graduate Research Assistantship.

The scholarship is available beginning August 2026 at McNeese State University, Lake Charles, LA to study the response of amphibian communities to intensive habitat management. 

The graduate student will document and monitor the community of pond breeding amphibians throughout a mixed-use park located in Southwest Louisiana. Trapping, call surveys, and cover object arrays will be used.

Some work at night and during light rain will be required.

McNeese State University Scholarship Requirements

To be eligible for the postgraduate McNeese State University Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  • have a B.S. in wildlife science, biology, natural resource conservation, or closely related discipline.
  • be self motivated, have a strong work ethic, and the ability to tolerate field work in a challenging environment (high heat and humidity, biting insects, etc…).  
  • possess the ability to work with a diverse group of natural resource professionals, and interests in herpetology, conservation biology, and quantitative techniques are essential.

  • be sensitive to issues involving species of conservation concern and land management. 
  • Experience identifying frogs and toads by sight and vocalizations is preferred but not required
