 The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) has announced the selection of 3,200 young African entrepreneurs for its 2026 Entrepreneurship Programme. This cohort, revealed on March 22, 2026, marks the 12th year of the program, which aims to empower African entrepreneurs with $16 million in seed capital to drive job creation and economic growth.

The announcement was made on Sunday, 22nd of March, 2026 by the foundation chief executive officer, Somachi Chris-Asoluka.

Tony Elemelu Foundation Selects 3200 Participants Details

The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) has chosen 3,200 young African entrepreneurs for its 2026 cohort, marking a significant milestone in its mission to reshape the continent’s economic future. The selected entrepreneurs will benefit from a comprehensive program that includes a $5,000 non-refundable seed grant, business training, mentorship, and access to a vast alumni network.

TEF’s CEO, Somachi Chris-Asoluka, highlighted the program’s focus on artificial intelligence (AI) adoption and climate resilience, emphasizing the importance of technological disruption in business sustainability. “In 2026, every business must integrate AI to remain competitive,” she said.

 

The Foundation’s philosophy of Africapitalism emphasizes the private sector’s role in driving Africa’s development. Chris-Asoluka noted that entrepreneurs are key to tackling unemployment and poverty, and TEF aims to support them in creating large-scale enterprises.

The 2026 cohort reflects TEF’s commitment to inclusivity, with a diverse selection of entrepreneurs from across Africa.
