Berlin University DAAD MIDE Scholarship Details

Berlin University DAAD MIDE Scholarship offers 18-month full-time Master’s degree programme in “International and Development Economics” (MIDE), taught entirely in English.

The scholarship is designed for students from developing and transitional countries as well as from Germany and other developed countries with a special interest in the economic challenges facing “third world” countries, the programme prepares students to work in areas related to global economic affairs and development.

The Master’s programme in International and Development Economics (MIDE) has been established for students who have a first degree in economics/business administration or in other social sciences with a focus on economics.

Berlin University DAAD MIDE Scholarship Benefits

The Berlin University DAAD MIDE Scholarship offers:

  • monthly payments of 934 euros.
  • Payments towards health, accident, and personal liability insurance cover.
  • Travel allowance, unless these expenses are covered by the home country or another source of funding.

Under certain circumstances, scholarship holders may receive the following additional benefits:

  • Monthly rent subsidy
  • Monthly allowance for accompanying members of family

Berlin University DAAD MIDE Scholarship Requirements

To be eligible for theBerlin University DAAD MIDE Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  • obtained a first university degree with 180 ECTS (or an equivalent qualification).
  • A minimum of 15 ECTS credits in Economics. For applicants from outside the ECTS system: at least three Economics-related modules.
  • Proof of proficiency in English. If English was the language of instruction for your previous degree, no further proof is required.
  • Cumulative grade point average (40%).
  • Number of economics courses taken (25%).
  • Letter of motivation (35%).

While applying for the Berlin University DAAD MIDE Scholarship, you will be required to submit the following documents;

  • Letter of Motivation
    Maximum two pages, personally signed and dated, explaining your motivation for applying and your specific academic and career goals.

  • Transcript of Records and Degree Certificate(s)
    Including your Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). If these documents are not in English or German, official translations must be provided.

  • Grading System Explanation
    Usually included in your transcript or Diploma Supplement. If not, please request the explanation from your university, indicating the highest possible grade and the minimum passing grade at your university.

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
    In Europass format, signed and dated by you.

  • Copy of Passport.

  • Proficiency of English Language
