Rotary Peace Fellowship Details

The Rotary Foundation awards up to 170 funded fellowships a year for dedicated leaders from around the world to study at one of our eight peace centers.

Through academic training, practice, and global networking opportunities, the Rotary Peace Centers program develops the capacity of peace and development professionals to become effective catalysts for peace.

Since the program began in 2002, the Rotary Peace Centers have trained more than 1,800 fellows who now work in over 140 countries.

2026 Rotary Peace Scholarship Requirements

To be eligible for the 2026 Rotary Peace Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Be proficient in English
  • Have a bachelor’s degree
  • Have a strong commitment to cross-cultural understanding and peace as shown through professional and academic achievements and personal or community service
  • Have the potential for leadership
  • Have at least three years of full-time relevant experience in peace or development work

The scholarship covers a wide array of expenses, including tuition, accommodation, round-trip travel, and internship costs.

Master’s degree programs

Accepted candidates study peace and development issues with research-informed teaching and a diverse student body. The programs last 15 to 24 months and include a two- to three-month field study, which participants design themselves.

Professional development certificate program

During the one-year blended learning program, experienced peace and development professionals with diverse backgrounds gain practical skills to promote peace within their communities and regions. Fellows complete field studies and design and carry out a social change initiative.

Required Documents for 2026 Rotary Peace Scholarships

While applying for the 2026 Rotary Peace Scholarships, you will be required to submit the following documents;

These include

  • a resume, academic and/or
  • professional recommendations,
  • essays,
  • academic transcripts (for master’s),
  • English proficiency test scores (for master’s), and a social impact plan (for certificate).

Selection Criteria

The Selection Process Explained

Applications undergo an initial eligibility screening. Qualified candidates progress for further review. The Rotary Peace Centers Committee, comprising Rotary members and university representatives, evaluates the top candidates and selects finalists. Notification of selection occurs in November.

Applications are assessed based on:

  • Meeting eligibility requirements.
  • English proficiency.
  • Dedication to peace and development.
  • Leadership potential.
  • Alignment with fellowship objectives and compatibility with Rotary.
  • Academic compatibility with chosen university program.
  • Viability and impact of Social Change Initiative (for certificate program).

How To Apply for 2026 Rotary Peace Fellowships

Steps to Crafting a Winning Application

  • Ensure you meet the eligibility criteria and review the experience guide.
  • Thoroughly research the curriculum at each Rotary Peace Center. For master’s aspirants, preference ranking of two centers is required.
  • Connect with Rotary using their Club Finder. Engaging with a local Rotary or Rotaract club is beneficial. Many districts have a Rotary Peace Fellowship Subcommittee Chair to guide your application. While optional, club or district endorsements are highly recommended.
  • Read the Application Overview for detailed instructions.
  • Collate all necessary documents. Allocate time for acquiring university transcripts and scheduling IELTS or TOEFL exams if needed.
  • Submit your application between February and 15 May. Ensure all parts of your application, including recommendations, are completed before submission.
  • Await the qualification notification and selection results. If successful, you’ll be notified in November about your designated Rotary Peace Center.
  • For master’s applicants, separate university admission is necessary.
