The Jed Child Trust Foundation Essay Competition is giving out a cash prize of N150,000.00, N100,000.00, and N50,000.00 to the winner, first, second, and third positions respectively.

Established in 2018, Jed Child Trust was established in 2018 with the aim of bringing quality education to all students on the African continent.
Founded by individuals who have experienced firsthand the pains of struggling to get an education with limited finances and a failing society, Jed Child Trust is a fast-growing organization dedicated to understanding what inequality and being disadvantaged in education mean to the African child.
The organization has so far grown her operations in over five countries on the African continent, directly aiding 67,555 beneficiaries in 15 communities through our 7 online programmes. She have also partnered with various international bodies to make our dream of equal educational opportunities for the less privileged children in Africa a reality.

The Jed Child Trust Foundation Essay Competition is organized in a bid to provide assistance to the African child so as help him fight Child Abuse, Drug Abuse, Child Labor, and Soldering though quality education.
The foundation organizes a lot of programs ranging from simple, fun discussions about crucial topics to mentoring, empowering readership, and sensitization. These programs constitute her strategies for achieving affordable and equitable education for all African children, especially the deprived.

Requirements
Eligible candidates for the Jed Child trust Foundation essay Competition will meet the following requirements;
- be an undergraduate student enrolled in any accredited tertiary institution in Africa
- be a secondary school student in a government-owned or approved tertiary institution in Africa.

Scholarship Benefits and Timeline
The best three essays shall be awarded as follows;
- N150,000.00 (Winner)

Judging Criteria
- Adherence to instructions and passion for education and technology.Â
- Ability to speak to policymakers and demand a change in the educational curriculum.
- A clear line of thought and possible curriculum recommendations.
- Creativity, innovation, and originality.Â
- Ideas, concepts. Word limit, Grammar, and Unique writing style.Â
- Descriptive language, Good diction, and mastery.Â

Submission Guidelines and Formatting:
An abstract of 300 words or less that propose and summarizes the topic.
Submissions must be new original work that has not been previously published (this includes articles published in your school newspaper, on other websites or blogs, or even as part of your graduate thesis). Any references made within the work to other studies or publications must be credited and noted. However, submissions will not be considered and may be removed if they are primarily a collection of links to other articles.
Participants should be active followers of all Jed Child Trust Social Media Handles. ( Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Twitter, Youtube, Tiktok)
Your name or identifying detail must not appear on the essay’s body.Â
Individuals may submit only one article to the competition, not more than one.Â
All submissions must be received between March 28th, 2023, 12:00 am GMT + 1, and May 28th, 2023, 11:59 pm GMT+1.
Participants should share a flier of the essay competition on their social media pages, tag the Jed Child Trust Foundation and submit its proof alongside their essays.Â
Use of AI tools like Chatgpt, Quilbot, etc., is not allowed. We use tools like Writesonic and Grammarly business to check the use of AI.Â
Ensure to read our terms and condition.Â
Length:Â 1000 words minimum and 2000 words maximum, excluding references.Â
Format:Â Times new roman, font 12, double line spacing, APA citation format, and submitted as Pdf.
Finalists will be notified by email before August 5th, 2023, to submit a video pitch that explains their passion and certifies authorship.Â
Winners will be announced on the 5th of August, 2023.

Term and Conditions:
- Winners should be ready to volunteer with the Jed Child Trust Foundation for six months.Â
- Participants should be active followers of all Jed Child Trust Social Media Handles. ( Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Twitter, Youtube, Tiktok)
- Participants should share a flier of the essay competition on their social media pages and tag the Jed Child Trust Foundation.Â
- All submissions after the deadline would be considered null.
- Winners are expected to be ambassadors of the Jed Child Trust Foundation within and after the period of voluntary service.
- Participants would be expected to make a minute video of themselves, talking about the essay they have written and their experience through the journey.
- Participants should be within the eligibility group.
- Participants should be able to submit their school identity card issued by their school.
- Participants would be engaged in interviews and would conduct video recordings which we have rights over.
- The winners give Jed Child Trust Foundation full rights to the essays written. Without the organization’s consent, they would not use the article or ideas in another competition.Â
- We reserve the right to withdraw the prizes if it is later discovered that the participants deceived or submitted fake information or disregarded the guidelines or instructions.
- We also reserve the right to refrain from paying the prizes if we face any serious issues or any circumstances hindering our ability to pay the awards. However, we will communicate this through an official email to the winner or winners. We will still issue the certificates.Â
- We reserve the right not to select winners if the guidelines or expected quality is not met.Â
- Any candidate contacting media news agencies or accepting the invitation and contact from any news agency, bloggers, freelancers, and influencers without our consent and written approval would be automatically disqualified from receiving the prizes. If damages are caused, there would be litigations against the participant and the news agency. Â
- Any candidate involved in media gaging, media padding, fraudulent activities, charged by a court or engaged in a prosecutable action, or is due to be prosecuted would automatically be disqualified, and the prize is withdrawn.Â
- We reserve the absolute right to review, change and modify these terms and conditions without the participant’s consent or permission. However, any modification would be communicated at our availability.Â
- All legal-related concerns and filings are to be filed and executed based only on the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.Â

Review and Evaluation
The volume of essays determines the time frame for the review. It takes two or more months to review, grade, and select the winning essays.Â
The conclusion and reviews shall be communicated at the end of the whole process.
