The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially announced that the TVET application portal will be opened on April 13, 2026, marking the commencement of a new intake aimed at empowering Nigerians with practical, job-ready skills.

The TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training), supervised by the Federal Ministry of Education (FME), is designed to improve employability, promote entrepreneurship, and reduce unemployment nationwide through hands-on technical training.

According to details released by the ministry, the programme will run for a duration of six months to one year, depending on the selected course.

Successful applicants will receive a monthly stipend of ₦22,500 to support their participation throughout the training period.

To ensure accessibility, the government disclosed that training centres have been established across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), allowing participants to undergo training without the need to relocate.

Upon completion, trainees will be awarded a nationally recognised certification expected to enhance their competitiveness in the labour market and support self-employment opportunities.

Areas of Training for FGN TVET Programme

The TVET programme covers a broad range of vocational and digital training.

In the construction sector, participants will receive training in electrical installation, welding and fabrication, painting and decoration, floor cladding, tiling, interlocking, and bricklaying.

Under Information and Communication Technology (ICT), trainees will learn network system installation, computer hardware maintenance, GSM repairs, and social media communication skills.

Automotive training includes motorcycle and tricycle repairs, vulcanising, auto-body works, and vehicle maintenance processes such as compressed natural gas (CNG) conversion.

Other areas include creative media production, refrigeration and air-conditioning, plumbing, carpentry, furniture making, solar photovoltaic installation, and agricultural practices such as livestock farming and mechanised agriculture.

Service-oriented courses will cover fashion design, tailoring, beauty therapy, hospitality, catering services, tourism, and leather works including shoemaking and bag production.
