The African Economic Scholars Program (AESP) is a premier initiative designed for final-year students and recent graduates from Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa with backgrounds in Economics, Political Science, or related Social Sciences.
It focuses on nurturing young talents through mentorship, hands-on policy research, and capacity-building workshops to shape Africa’s policy landscape, with upcoming applications for the 2026 cohort

African Economic Scholars Program (AESP) Requirements
To be eligible for the African Economic Scholars Program (AESP), applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

Applicants must have studied or be studying:
- Economics
- Political Science
- Or any related Social Science discipline
- Final-year undergraduate students or Recent graduates

You must be from one of the following countries:
- Nigeria
- Ghana
- Kenya
- South Africa
- graduated or be on track to graduate with a First Class or Second Class Upper (2:1)
- Applicants must not have graduated before 2025

While applying for the 2026 African Economic Scholars Program (AESP), you will be required to submit the following documents;
- School ID Card
- Academic Transcripts from 100 level to final year
- CV maximum of 2 pages
