European University Institute Jean Monnet Fellowship 2027 Details

The Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies offers one-year Jean Monnet Fellowships to scholars who have obtained their doctorate more than five years prior to the start of the fellowship, i.e. 1 September 2027 for the academic year 2027-28.

The Fellowship programme is open to post-docs, tenure-track academics and those wishing to spend their sabbatical at the Centre.

The Centre offers up to 20 fellowships a year: You are invited to become part of a lively and creative academic community!

EUI Jean Monnet Fellowship Benefits

The EUI Jean Monnet Fellowship offers a highly competitive financial and professional package to support experienced scholars during their 12-month residential research stay at the Robert Schuman Centre in Florence, Italy.

The core benefits of the program include:

• Monthly Stipend: Fellows receive a basic, tax-free grant of €2,850 per month. For scholars who maintain an external salary or alternative funding, the grant is adjusted to a minimum of €2,100 per month.
• Family Allowances: To assist with relocation, the program provides €310 per month for a co-residing partner and €210 per month for each dependent child.
• Travel Reimbursement: Inbound and outbound travel costs between your home institution and Florence are covered up to a maximum of €1,200.
• Research Support: A dedicated allowance of €650 is provided to cover essential research expenses, such as academic conference attendance.
• Institutional Access: Fellows enjoy full access to the EUI’s world-class libraries, research facilities, resources, and global academic networks.

To be considered for the 2027 award, applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

• The fellowships are open to candidates who have obtained their doctorate more than 5 years prior to the start of the fellowship on 1 September (to apply for 2027-28, the Ph.D. should have been awarded before 1 September 2022).
• Candidates of all nationalities are eligible for the Jean Monnet Fellowships.
