Scholarship Overview: Bridging Music and Technology
The selected scholar will engage in research under the mentorship of Professor Roberta Comunian and Dr. Eka Ikpe within the Department of Culture, Media, and Creative Industries (CMCI) at King’s College London.
This interdisciplinary project aims to unravel the intricacies of Afro Beats’ influence on digital and platform economies.
Project Description: A Deep Dive into Afro Beats
The scholarship seeks to investigate how knowledge, technology, and capital are deployed by Afro Beats music producers in West Africa, shaping social, economic, and cultural values.
This exploration will shed light on the impact of these efforts, influencing socioeconomic change and contributing to the expansion of creative economies.
Kings College London’ Scholarship Requirements
- Applicants must be African nationals residing in Africa, liable for international tuition fees, intending to start a full-time MPhil/PhD program at King’s College London in the 2024-25 academic year.
- A High Merit or Distinction at the Master’s level in relevant subjects is preferred.
