YVE Fellowship Program Details

The YVE Fellowship is a six-month program designed to empower young Nigerians to drive impactful reform in the field of education. Youths will be empowered with evidence-based knowledge, skills, resources and opportunities that will enable them to make informed decisions about their roles as agents of education development in Nigeria, especially through advocacy and innovation to gain first-hand experience.

Through a 2-month comprehensive virtual training, and a school immersion internship, fellows will become equipped to drive education reform at scale. This fellowship aims to bridge these demand and supply gaps by empowering a generation of young change-makers with the knowledge, skills and opportunities to advocate for education reform in Nigeria.

Successful candidates would engage with mentors, and fellow youth vanguards to collaboratively build capacity to effect change within the education sector.

QEDA Youth Vanguard for Education Fellowship Program Structure

The fellowship is structured into two core phases:

  • Phase 1: Virtual Training (2 Months): Intensive online training covering leadership development, education advocacy, early grade reading, safeguarding, climate education, and development perspectives.
  • Phase 2: School Immersion & Implementation: A full-term practical placement in schools, where fellows collaborate with mentors and execute personal or group community-focused education projects

YVE Fellowship Program Requirements

To be eligible for the YVE Fellowship Program, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Be a Nigerian between 18 and 32 years old
  • Possess a minimum of a degree or equivalent qualification
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in education reform
  • Be available throughout the six-month programme
  • Commit to at least six hours of weekly virtual sessions and the school immersion phase
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Show commitment to leadership development and career growth
