Western Union Global Fellowship 2026 Details
The Western Union Global Fellowship is a Fellowship designed for entrepreneurs impacting refugees, highly marginalized, and displaced individuals globally.
Supported by Western Union and powered by Watson Institute, this fully-funded 16-week program provides training, committed mentorship, financial literacy skills, financial stipends, long-term Alumni support, and a playbook.
It also offers funds to power a 1-day Basecamp in their community, and a global network of support to help exceptional entrepreneurs and leaders access economic opportunity, advance their impact, and transform their communities.
Western Union Fellowship Benefits
Western Union Global Fellowship 2026 offers:
- Weekly virtual workshops with localized gatherings and events when possible (6-8 hours per week time commitment)
- 2-week virtual Immersive program (20–25 hours per week time commitment)
- Workshops & Training:Â Modules include Foundations, Data & Metrics, Go-To-Market, Funding, Team Management, and Pitch
- Impact Series: The world’s foremost leaders, entrepreneurs, and practitioners are invited to our programs to share their entrepreneurial journey and experience as well as mentor the Watson Institute and Fellows.
- Basecamp: 2+ day workshops designed for Fellows’ communities to ideate solutions, design business models, and compellingly communicate their businesses and organizations to an external audience.
- Summit:Â Culminating community event where Fellows pitch to local leaders, funders, and entrepreneursÂ
- Seed Funding:Â $36,000 in seed funding will be distributed among select Western Union Foundation Fellows based on progress and impact throughout the Fellowship.
Western Union Global Fellowship Requirements
To be eligible for the Western Union Global Fellowship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
- You are an entrepreneur or community leader from and working with highly marginalized, refugee, and forcibly displaced communities around the globe.
- You are leading an early-stage social impact venture or community initiative with a proven track record of impact, entrepreneurship, and leadership in your community. We define early-stage ventures as those that have a working prototype/ MVP product or service with active customers or beneficiaries and demonstrated impact and revenue. Ideally, you are exploring your product-market fit.
- Â Applicants from or are working in the following countries will be given priority: Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, India, Japan, Lithuania, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Uganda, United Kingdom, and United States.
- You are looking for expert-led entrepreneurial training, access to funding opportunities, and a vast network of mentorship to accelerate your leadership skills and venture impact.
- With the support of the Watson Institute team, you will gain a roadmap of how to grow and scale your work and impact. In addition, you will create impact through the facilitation of an impact workshop and training (called a Basecamp)in your community and for your stakeholders. You will receive a stipend, playbook, and team support to make this happen.
How To Apply for Western Union Fellowship
To apply for the Western Union Global Fellowship 2026, follow the instructions we have outlined below;
- Read the information we have provided on this webpage and ensure your eligibility
- Submit Your Application: Candidates complete the online application in approximately 30 minutes. Submit by the priority deadline of June 28, 2026, for early consideration. Applications will continue to be reviewed on a rolling basis until all spots are filled.
- Application Review:Â Our Admissions Committee evaluates applications to identify innovative entrepreneurs with scalable ventures and strong potential for impact. Early applicants receive priority consideration.
- Interview: Selected candidates will be invited to a 20-minute Zoom interview to share their entrepreneurial journey, discuss their venture’s vision for growth, and explore how the Fellowship aligns with their goals.
- Final Selection & Enrollment: Final decisions will be announced by July 9, 2026. Accepted applicants must confirm their enrollment to secure their spot. The program begins on August 11, 2026.
