US Government TechWomen Program Details
The US Government TechWomen initiative invites applications from 100 women in STEM fields across Africa, Central and South Asia, and the Middle East for the 2024 program.
This opportunity aims to empower and connect women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields, fostering innovation and leadership.
The TechWomen program offers a transformative experience for Emerging Leaders, immersing them in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area.
The program includes collaboration with Professional Mentors on meaningful projects, exploration of the Bay Area with Cultural Mentors, and networking with influential industry leaders.
2025 US Government TechWomen Program Requirements
To be eligible for the 2025 US Government TechWomen Program, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
- Be women with a minimum of two years of full-time professional experience in STEM fields.
- Hold at least a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Be proficient in written and spoken English.
- Be citizens and permanent residents of eligible countries.
- Be eligible to obtain a U.S. J-1 exchange visitor visa.
- Not have applied for an immigrant visa to the United States in the past five years.
- Not hold U.S. citizenship or be a U.S. legal permanent resident.

Preference will be given to applicants who:
- Demonstrate emerging leadership in their professional track.
- Are committed to returning to their home countries to share knowledge and mentor women and girls.
- Have limited or no prior experience in the United States.
- Have a record of voluntary or public service in their communities.
- Demonstrate entrepreneurialism and commitment to innovation.
- Show a willingness to participate in exchange programs and mentorship opportunities.

US Government TechWomen Program Benefits and Timeline
- Value of US Government TechWomen Program: The program covers international travel, housing, meals, incidentals, local transportation, and transportation to official TechWomen events.
- Participants are responsible for non-program activities’ costs, such as independent sightseeing and non-program-related travel.
- Duration of US Government TechWomen Program: The 2024 TechWomen program spans five weeks from September to October 2024, with fixed arrival and departure dates.
Selection Process
TechWomen participants are selected based on eligibility requirements, with applications reviewed by independent committees of industry leaders and regional experts. Semifinalists may undergo interviews with U.S. Embassy personnel.
