Once awarded the scholarship, students embark on an enriching academic journey. The program funds a rigorous one-year taught Master’s course at the University of Oxford.

The Mastercard University of Oxford AfOx Scholarships go beyond traditional academic learning. Scholars also participate in the Leadership and Impact Programme during their first year.

2025 Mastercard AfOx Scholarship Requirements
To be eligible for the University of Mastercard AfOx Scholarship, applicants must:
Be from students hailing from all African countries.
Have applied and received a conditional offer from the University of Oxford for their chosen course of study.
Must be from groups that have historically been underrepresented in higher education. This includes but is not limited to female scholars, individuals from refugee and displaced backgrounds, and disabled scholars.

- You are to ensure you submit your application to the graduate studies office as soon as possible to be considered for the scholarship.
Mastercard AfOx Scholarships at University of Oxford Benefits and Timeline
The University of Oxford Mastercard Scholarship will receive holistic support which includes:
Tuition Fees: The scholarship covers the full cost of tuition fees for international students.
This financial support ensures that scholars can focus on their studies without worrying about the cost of education.Living Expenses: Beyond tuition, the scholarship also provides living expenses to help students sustain themselves during their time at the University of Oxford.
This encompasses costs such as accommodation, meals, and other day-to-day expenditures.Logistics Support: To make the transition to studying in the UK as smooth as possible, the scholarship includes an economy return flight, visa fees, and Immigration Health Surcharge fees.

You will be submitting the following while applying for the 2024 University of Oxford Mastercard Scholarship;
- A completed online application – all applicable sections must be filled out, including contact information, financial information, personal details and responses to essay questions.
- Financial documents – upload a scanned copy of financial documentation.
- Transcript – upload a scanned copy of your secondary school transcript and any other academic information.
- Two references – provide the names and contact details of two individuals who will serve as your referees.
- You will also be submitting all other required documents reuqired for admission by the University of Oxford
How To Apply for University of Oxford Mastercard Scholarship 2025
- To be considered for this scholarship, submit your application for graduate study to the University of Oxford via the graduate admissions portal by the deadline for your chosen course of study.
- Please read the Application Guide in detail ahead of making the application. We strongly recommend you submit your application form and all of your supporting documents at least a week before the December/January deadline for your course.
- Eligible candidates who receive a conditional offer from their course will be then invited to apply for the AfOx Graduate Scholarship Program.
- All invited candidates will be expected to fill in the AfOx Graduate Scholarship questionnaire during the application process.
- Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed virtually before decisions are made, and the timelines will be communicated at the interview stage.
