University of Florence Pegaso PhD Scholarships Details

The Pegaso PhD Scholarships support admission into the 42nd Cycle Doctoral Programmes at the University of Florence.

The scholarships are funded through the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) 2021–2027 under the Giovanisì Project, an initiative by the Tuscany Regional Government to promote education, innovation, and youth development.

Successful applicants will receive a fully funded PhD scholarship, research funding, international mobility opportunities, and additional financial support for eligible international student.

The doctoral programme lasts three years and is expected to commence on 1 November 2026.

University of Florence PEGASO Scholarship Benefits

The University of Florence PEGASO Scholarship offers the following benefits;

  • Annual scholarship: €16,243 before social security charges payable by the recipient.
  • Payment method: monthly instalments in arrears.
  • Research abroad increase: scholarship amount may be increased by 50% during approved research activity abroad.
  • Research budget: at least 10% of the scholarship amount for research activities in Italy and abroad.
  • One-off international support: up to €5,000 for eligible international PhD students.
  • Programme duration: three years.
  • Training exposure: soft-skills courses and research-world preparation during the PhD.

To be eligible for the University of Florence Pegaso PhD Scholarships, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  • be ready to begin a PhD in Italy in the 2026/2027 academic year.
  • already hold, or will soon hold, a master’s-level qualification.
  • be able to prepare a serious research project.
  • be ready for a competitive admission process.
  • be willing to attend a full-time doctoral programme.
  • be willing to complete research mobility or applied research activities where required.
  • be interested in an European research degree with international academic exposure
