Each year, up to ten exceptional individuals, who fulfill the University of Exeter’s admission criteria for the MEd TESOL Programme for the September 2025 intake, will receive these fully funded scholarships.
These awards are exclusive to nationals working in countries classified as low or middle income by the OECD DAC list.

Hornby Trust Scholarship Requirements

- Candidates must hail from and work in a low or middle-income country as per the OECD DAC list.
- A minimum of three years’ full-time TESOL teaching or related experience post-first degree is required.
- Candidates should possess an undergraduate degree with grades equivalent to a UK upper 2nd class honors or a relevant postgraduate degree.
- Prior application to the University of Exeter’s MEd TESOL program is necessary to receive an Exeter student number, which is crucial for the Hornby Scholarship application.

- Remember, your Exeter student number is vital for submitting your scholarship application.
The closing date for applications for this award is 26th February 2025.
Applicants will be notified if they have been shortlisted to attend an interview no later than 18th April 2025. Interviews will be held between Monday 28th April and Wednesday 14th May 2025.
