The UK Government is pleased to announce the commencement of applications for the 2027 edition of its fully funded Master’s Scholarships.

This scholarship covers full tuition fees, travel expenses to and from the UK, and a generous living stipend of £21,374 per annum.

Additionally, Commonwealth scholars may receive a clothing allowance, study and research travel grants, and a family allowance of £8,640 for scholars with children and dependents.

The agency-nominated Commonwealth Masters Scholarship programme, one of the three scholarships offered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission is NOW available for interested applicants.

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC) provides the UK Government scholarship scheme led by international development objectives.

The CSC operates within the framework of the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) and offers a vivid demonstration of the UK’s enduring commitment to the Commonwealth.

By attracting individuals with outstanding talent and identifiable potential from all backgrounds and supporting them to become leaders and innovators upon returning to their home countries.

Recipients of the Commonwealth Masters Scholarship can expect the following benefits:

  • Approved airfare from the scholar’s home country to the UK and return at the end of the award.
  • Full tuition fees are covered in partnership with a UK university.
  • Monthly stipend of £1,452 (or £1,781 for those in London).
  • Clothing allowance (where applicable).
  • Study travel grant for academic-related travel.
  • Child allowance of £576.61 per month for the first child and £143 per month for subsequent children under 16, if living with the scholar in the UK.

To be considered for the 2027 award, applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

  • Be a citizen of or have refugee status in an eligible Commonwealth country or be a British Protected Person.
  • Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country.
  • Be available to commence academic studies in the UK by September 2026.
  • Hold a first-degree equivalent to at least an upper second-class (2:1) honors standard by September 2026. If applying for a second Master’s degree, applicants must justify their choice.
  • Demonstrate financial need and inability to study in the UK without this scholarship.

To complete your application, prepare the following documents in advance:

  • Proof of citizenship or refugee status
  • Full transcripts of all higher education qualifications
  • References from at least two individuals
  • Development Impact statement
