Universiti Malaya Scholarship 2027 Details

Universiti Malaya Bright Scholarship is a full scholarship program created to identify and recruit outstanding candidates (citizens and non citizens) from leading educational institutions around the world to pursue a Doctoral Degree ( in research mode at Universiti Malaya UM).

Through this program, UM aims to achieve the following:

• Bring together the most outstanding and talented individuals from across the globe and
• produce PhD graduates capable of bringing about positive impact to the world
• Increase research output through the production of quality publications
• Strengthen academic collaborative research networks by leveraging on connections made possible by UM Bright Scholarship recipients and
• Increase UM’s global visibility by attracting the best PhD candidates from top universities

Universiti Malaya Bright Scholarship Benefits

The fully funded Universiti Malaya Bright Scholarship includes;

• a tuition fee waiver for seven (7) semesters to support your academic journey.
• RM3,500/month for a period of 42 months

Universiti Malaya Bright Scholarship Requirements

To be considered for the 2027 Universiti Malaya Bright Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

• The applicant must be no more than 30 years old at the year of application.
• The applicants must possess a valid Full Offer Letter issued by Universiti Malaya at the time of scholarship application.
• Minimum academic qualification required to apply are as follows:
• • A Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.70/4.00 (or an equivalent recognized qualification) and
  • A Master’s Degree by research, or a Master’s Degree by mixed mode with a minimum CGPA of 3.70/4.00 (or an equivalent
    recognized qualification).
  • Fast-track candidates (direct entry from Bachelor’s to PhD) are not eligible.
• Non citizens must have the following English language qualifications
• • IELTS Academic: Overall Band Score of 6.5 or above; or
  • TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 73; or
  • An official English language qualification or assessment demonstrating proficiency equivalent to CEFR Level B2 or above;
    or
  • A Letter of Medium of Instruction (MOI) issued by the applicant’s previous university, confirming that the programme of
    study was conducted entirely in English.
• The applicant must not be receiving any sponsorship from any organization or other parties
• Note:
• The University reserves the right to determine the equivalency and acceptability of English language qualifications not
  explicitly listed above.
• The validity of the English test is within 2 years from the date of the examination.

• Artificial Intelligence & digital robotic realms
• Space science and new engineering spectrum
• Defence and security assets and inventory innovation and creation

Required Documents for Universiti Malaya Scholarship

To complete your application, prepare the following documents in advance:

• Passport size photo
• Copy of Applicant’s Identity Card
• Copies of certificates and academic transcripts at the Bachelor’s Degree level
• Copies of certificates and academic transcripts at Master’s Degree level.
• Proof of publication (first page only).
• A valid IELTS/TOEFL/CEFR certificate that is no more than 2 years from the date of the examination or;
• A Letter of Medium of Instruction issued by the applicant’s university as an alternative to IELTS/TOEFL/CEFR.
• A valid Full Offer Letter from Universiti Malaya or proof that an admission application has been submitted for the current intake cycle.
