The University of Lausanne in Switzerland is calling on interested and qualified applicants to apply for her fully funded 2027 Master’s Scholarship.

The UNIL Masters Scholarship is granted for the minimum statutory period of the program chosen by the student and it amounts to CHF 1,600 per month for the complete duration of the master’s program.

The University of Lausanne UNIL Masters Scholarship is for excellence and is awarded to students who have graduated from a foreign university and whose academic results are of a very high level.

UNIL grants a number of full scholarships every year. Candidates are made aware of the fact that the sum of the scholarship awarded is not sufficient to live in Switzerland.

Students offered a scholarship will be exempt from the fixed registration fees for the courses, with the exception of the CHF 80.00 fees to be paid each semester.

  • The University of Lausanne UNIL Masters Scholarship amounts to CHF 1,600 per month from 15 September to 15 July (or 10 months a year) for the complete duration of the masters (one and a half years or two years depending on the chosen masters), with the exception of cases of definitive failure after the first year
  • Students offered a scholarship will be exempt from the fixed registration fees for the courses, with the exception of the CHF 80.00 fees to be paid each semester.

To be considered for the 2027 award, applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

  • To have obtained a foreign university degree is considered equivalent to a bachelor’s at UNIL before the beginning of the master’s programme at UNIL.
  • To have distinguished yourself during your studies, especially through particularly brilliant academic results.
  • To have a language level of at least B2 (according to the European Language Portfolio global scale) in French or at least C1 in English according to the language in which your chosen masters is taught.
  • Not been registered with UNIL
  • To have paid the CHF 200.00 administration fee (see document, “list of documents to attach to your application”).

  • Master from the School of Medicine
  • Master in Sciences and Practices of Education
  • Master of Law. Exceptions: Open to applications for Masters Scholarships : Specialisms “International and Comparative Law”, “Legal Theory” and “International Tax Law and Policy”
  • Master of Science in Physical Education and Sport Didactics
  • Master of Science in Health Sciences
  • Master of Science in Sustainable Management & Technology
  • All MASs (3rd cycle programmes, Further Education programmes)

To complete your application, prepare the following documents in advance:

  • a single PDF containing all the required documents:
    • A complete and up-to-date curriculum vitae (CV) with photo.
    • A covering letter (1 to 2 pages maximum).
    • A copy of the university diploma(s) (if already obtained) and of the official transcripts for all examinations taken at the university as well as an authenticated translation if these documents are not in French, German, English or Italian.
    • A copy of the description of the programme for the last semester, or even the last year of the bachelor’s degree, if the bachelor’s degree has not yet been obtained.
    • A copy of the official language certificate in which the master at Unil  is taught (if required). 
    • A copy of the secondary school leaving diploma (High School) and an authenticated translation if the diploma is not in French, German, English or Italian.
    • A copy of your passport.
    • A copy of proof of payment of the administrative fee of CHF 200.
  • two letters of recommendation,
  • certified true copies of academic documents (if applicable).

  • Apply online and upload your complete application file in PDF during the online application.
  • The application form for the Masters Scholarship also serves as an application for ADMISSION to the chosen Master’s program (and hence as a matriculation form at UNIL)
  • The deadline for an application is November 1st to begin a master’s degree during the following academic year, in the autumn semester or the spring semester (if the programme allows).
  • Application files in PDF sent by email and incomplete application files will not be considered.
