 Now in its second year, SLEF continues to support undergraduate students at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) and the University of Lagos (UNILAG). New and returning students from both universities are encouraged to apply.

Sola Lawal Edufund Scholarship Requirements

To be eligible for the Sola Lawal Edufund Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Nigerian citizenship
  • Admitted to or enrolled at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU, Ile-Ife) or University of Lagos (UNILAG)
  • New and returning students from both universities are encouraged to apply.
  • Facing financial hardship and are at risk of deferring, suspending, or abandoning their studies before completing their degree

While applying for the Sola Lawal Edufund Scholarship 2026, you will be required to submit the following documents;

  • Personal essay (500-800 words): Your essay must address your academic and career goals, how your education will help achieve them, and how receiving this scholarship would support your aspirations. You may include personal experiences, characteristics, and financial circumstances that demonstrate your need.
  • Proof of acceptance (for new students) or enrolment (for current/returning students) to OAU and/or UNILAG.
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation: Request letters from teachers, professors, or others who can speak to your potential, character, or skills.
