Oxford University Rhodes Global Scholarship 2027 Details

The University of Oxford has made a call for applications for the Rhodes Global Scholarship 2027.

The Rhodes Global Scholarships allow eligible candidates from the rest of the world (i.e. not strongly connected to any other Rhodes Scholarships Constituency) to apply for a Scholarship, subject to nomination.

The Rhodes Scholarships bring together and develop exceptional young people from all over the world, and in all fields of study, who are committed to being of service, impatient with the way things are, and have the courage to act.

Rhodes Global Scholarship Program is for citizens of all other countries to Pursue Postgraduate programs at Oxford University. It allows you to pursue a Master’s, MPhil, and PhD degrees in any course at Oxford University.

Rhodes Global Scholarship UK 2027 Benefits

The Rhodes Scholarship covers Oxford University course fees, as well as providing an annual stipend.

For the 2025-26 academic year, the stipend is £19,800 per year (£1,650 per month) from which Scholars pay all living expenses, including accommodation. Please note: this is not sufficient to cover partners or dependents.

Following selection for the Scholarship, the Rhodes Trust will also cover: 

  • The fee required to apply to study at the University of Oxford 
  • Fees for a student visa and associated International Health Surcharge (IHS), which enables international students to access the UK’s National Health Service 
  • Two economy-class flights to and from the UK, for the beginning and end of studies in Oxford.

Available Programmes for Rhodes Scholarship 2026

For the 2025/26 academic session, the Rhodes Scholarship will accept applications to the following programmes;

  • A two-year MPhil or BPhil: a two-year taught Master’s course, with a substantial research element in the
    second year. (The 2-year Master’s in Philosophy is known as a BPhil)
  • Two one-year taught Master’s courses (eg MSc, MSt, BCL, MPP): two 1-year taught Master’s courses in succession.
  • A two-year MSc by research: a research degree taken over two years.
  • BA with Senior Status (or 2nd BA): a second undergraduate degree taken over two years.
  • Four-year DPhil programmes.

Rhodes Global Scholarship UK 2026 Requirements

To be eligible for the Rhodes Global Scholarship UK, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Nationality/citizenship: You may only apply to the Global Scholarships if you are not eligible to apply via any existing Rhodes constituency.
    • If you have a strong connection to one or more Rhodes constituencies, but do not meet their eligibility criteria you should also consider interjurisdictional consideration rather than the Global Scholarship.
  • Age: You must fulfill one of the following criteria:
    • You must be aged 18-24 on 1st October 2026 (ie you must have been born after 1
      October 2000 and before 2 October 2008) OR for medical students with a compulsory professional internship:
    • You must be aged 18-25 on 1st October 2026 (i.e., you must have been born after 1
      October 1999 and before 2 October 2008) OR for older candidates who completed their first undergraduate degree later than
      usual:
    • You must be under the age of 27 on 1st October 2026 (ie have been born after 1
      October 2000) AND you must also have completed your first undergraduate degree on or after 1 October 2026.*
    • *A university’s policy determines the date of completion of academic requirements for a degree, and this may be different from when a degree is considered awarded by the university or the date of a graduation ceremony. In ambiguous cases, the decision of the National Secretary is final.
  • Academic achievement: You must have completed, or be expected to complete by July 2026, an undergraduate degree (usually a Bachelor’s) and you must have an academic background and grade that – at a minimum – meets or exceeds the specific entry requirements of your chosen course at the University of Oxford.
  • Candidates will have a higher chance of successful admission to Oxford if they have:
    • A First Class Honors Degree or equivalent, or,
    • A GPA of 3.70/4.0 or higher*
    • Once you have noted the entry requirements for your chosen course(s).

While applying for the Rhodes Scholarship 2026, you will be required to submit the following documents;

  • Your details, such as contact information
  • Evidence that you meet the eligibility criteria
  • Your education history including your university transcripts
  • The course(s) you would like to study at the University of Oxford
  • A CV
  • An Academic Statement
  • A Personal Statement
  • A total of four referee
