The 2025 PTDF In-Country Scholarship is worth ₦700,000/Yr plus a laptop computer, and is available to students pursuing bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD programs at accredited Nigerian universities.

PTDF In-Country Scholarship Details
The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is a Federal Government agency (under the Ministry of Petroleum Resources) with the mandate of developing indigenous human capacity to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry.
The commission hereby invites applications from interested and qualified Nigerians to apply for the 2024/2025 Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctorate PTDF In-Country Scholarships in Nigerian Federal Universities.
The PTDF Scholarship application portal can be accessed from the PTDF SCHOLARSHIP MANAGEMENT PORTAL. Instructions on how to access the application form are also stated on the Portal.

PTDF In-Country Scholarship 2025 Benefits
The undergraduate and postgraduate PTDF scholarships are offered to support their education in Nigerian-based institutions;
- Undergraduates Reward: ₦500,000/Yr + Laptop (625,000 first year)
- Postgraduates (₦700,000/Yr) + Laptop

Available Programmes for PTDF Scholarship 2025
For the 2024/25 academic session, the PTDF Scholarship will accept applications to the following programmes;
- Oil and gas-related science and engineering courses
- Management courses
Participating Universities for PTDF Local Scholarship 2025
- Application for the PTDF Local Scholarship 2025 is restricted to Federal Universities and for oil and gas-related/management courses
- Admission for part-time studies shall not be considered for all categories of applications.
PTDF In-Country Scholarship Requirements
To be eligible for the undergraduate and postgraduate PTDF In-Country Scholarships, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
Undergraduate Applicants
- Applicants must be full-time students in any of the Federal Universities in Nigeria.
- Applicants must be presently in the 200 level of study.
- The course of study should be related to the Oil & Gas industry.
- Possess 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO including English Language and Mathematics.
- Possession of a valid admission letter into the University is mandatory for all undergraduate applicants.
- Possess a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 on scale of 5 or 3.0 on a scale of 4 which is equivalent to 2.2 in the first year.
- Applicants must provide transcripts for the first year of study (transcripts must be signed and stamped by HOD/Exams Officer or any authorized personnel in the University).
Postgraduate Applicants
- Applicants must possess a full-time admission letter into any of the Federal Universities in Nigeria.
- A minimum of Second-Class lower (2.2) in an Oil and Gas/Management related field.
- A minimum of merit in a second-degree certificate in an Oil and Gas-related discipline.
- Possess at least 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO results (not more than 2 sittings and the two results must precede the first degree).
- National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate or Letter of exemption
- Certificate of indigeneship (evidence of state of origin and Local Government).
- Personal statement of at least 1000 words stating reasons for undertaking the course of study (Master’s Applicants).
- PhD research proposal of not more than 6 pages. The research area must be relevant to the Oil and Gas industry.
Required Documents for PTDF Local Scholarships 2025
While applying for the PTDF Local Scholarships, you will be required to submit the following documents;
- Complete Application Form
- Evidence of statement of WAEC/SSCE/NECO results with at least 5 credits, including English Language and Mathematics (not more than 2 sittings and the first sitting result must be uploaded).
- Letter of admission into the University.
- First-year academic transcript(s) duly signed and stamped by HOD/Exams Officer or any authorized personnel.
- Certificate of indigeneship (evidence of state of origin and Local Government)
- Personal statement of at least 300 words stating reasons for undertaking the course of study.
Postgraduate Applicants
- First Degree Certificate or Statement of Result.
- NYSC Certificate or letter of exemption.
- WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO Result(s).
- Admission Letter.
- Personal Statement (only MSc applicants).
- Certificate of indigeneship (evidence of state of origin and Local Government).

How To Apply for PTDF In-Country Scholarships 2025
To apply for the PTDF Scholarship, follow the instructions we have outlined below;
Step 1:
- Visit URL to create application account and fill in your details.
- An email with instructions on how to login and set your password will be sent to the email address you entered.
Step 2:
- Login with your email as username and the password you created following the instructions sent to your email address.
Step 3:
- Click Verify NIN button before you start a new application.
For those that are just verifying their NIN, fill the fields and agree the terms (charges may apply).
If you have tried to verify your NIN and it was not successful do not try the second time as you will be charged twice.

Step 4:
- You will be required to fill all fields of biodata and upload all required documents.
- Please take note of all file formats and uploads, if the file uploaded does not meet the requirements, you will experience error.
- Postgraduate applicants who meet the requirements shall be shortlisted and invited for oral interviews before the final selection of successful candidates.
