OSF Scholarship Details

The cost of higher education has become expensive over the years, which has resulted in more students requiring financial assistance in order to make their post-secondary schooling plans possible. That reach is even more unattainable for deaf students.

The objective of The Opeoluwa Sotonwa Foundation is to bridge this gap and make financial support available to deaf Nigerian students who need financial assistance to be able to complete their course of study.

The Opeoluwa Sotonwa Foundation is dedicated to providing varying levels of scholarships for deaf students in higher Institutions.

Opeoluwa Sotonwa Foundation Scholarship Benefits

The Opeoluwa Sotonwa Foundation Scholarship offers the following;

  • OSF Scholarship Scheme: Aimed at Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students across public universities and colleges of education. It typically awards multiple scholarships of up to ₦100,000 per recipient
  • Konyinsola Ajayi Fellowship: A specialized, prestigious track designed specifically for law students with disabilities pursuing their LLB degrees. This fellowship provides financial support of up to ₦200,000

Eligible Programmes for Konyinsola Ajayi Fellowship 2026

To be eleigible for the scholarship and fellowships of Opeoluwa Sotonwa Foundation,candiddates should:

  • For the scholarship scheme,be currently enrolled in any program of studies
  • And for the Konyinsola Ajayi Fellowship, candidates should be enrolled in Law

OSF Scholarship Requirements

To be eligible for the OSF Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Must be deaf or hard of hearing, evidence with a letter from the institutions or deaf and hard of hearing student associations showing membership and attesting the applicant is deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Must be indigent and in need of assistance.
  • Must be a 200-level or above student in a degree-conferring higher institution based in Nigeria.
  • Must be in good academic standing with at least a 2.5 CGPA (A copy of the applicant’s most recent academic transcripts must be attached).
  • Applicant may pursue any course of study.
  • The applicant must submit a two-page personal statement. This can be a written statement or a 3-5 minute video in sign language vividly portraying the applicant’s life goals and aspirations.
  • Applicants, who are Law students studying to obtaining an LLB degree and have a disability, are encouraged to apply for the Konyinsola Ajayi Fellowship and should indicate this in their personal statement.

  • Successful applicants must be willing to pay it forward by acting as mentors and ambassadors for the Foundation.
  • The application for 2026 is open from July 1 to July 31, 2026. 
  • All completed applications will be reviewed. While previous OSF Scholarship recipients or Konyinsola Ajayi, SAN fellows remain eligible to apply, priority will be given to applicants who have not previously received an OSF Scholarship or Konyinsola Ajayi, SAN Fellowship.

While applying for the OSF Scholarship 2026, you will be required to submit the following documents;

  • Evidence applicant is deaf or hard of hearing from the institution or student associations showing membership. (Save as PDF or JPEG)
  • If applying for the Konyinsola Ajayi Fellowship applicant needs to be a law student studying towards obtaining an LLB and show proof of any disability
  • Admission Letter to a Nigerian Institution (Save as PDF or JPEG)
  • Transcript showing at least a 2.5 GPA (Save as PDF or JPEG)
  • Your two-page personal statement or 3-5 minute video in sign language (Save as PDF or JPEG)

To apply for the OSF Scholarship 2026, follow the instructions we have outlined below;

  • Complete all sections of this application accurately. A fully completed application is required for consideration.
  • All correspondence and award agreements will be prepared using the information you provide. Please use proper spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.
  • After completing the application, save it as a PDF and email it to [email protected] along with all of the following required documents:
    1. This application, fully completed and submitted as a PDF.
    2. Letter of Admission to your institution.
    3. Transcript or academic results from your previous year or level showing your courses and GPA of 2.5 or greater.
    4. A letter from your institution or a Deaf and Hard of Hearing student association confirming your membership and that you are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. For Konyinsola Ajayi, SAN Fellowship, proof of a documented disability endorsed by your institution.
    5. An original two-page personal statement or a 3–5 minute sign language video describing your life goals and aspirations. Non-original or plagiarized submissions will result in disqualification.
  • All required items must be received for your application to be considered. Any incomplete application, missing documents, or failure to meet these requirements will be deemed incomplete and will not be reviewed for consideration.
