The 10th NCDMB National Essay Competition will award scholarships, laptops, and cash prizes of N1,000,000.00, N700,000.00 and N500,000.00 to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd winners respectively.

Winners of the 2026 NCDMB Essay Contest shall receive;

To be considered for the 2026 NCDMB Essay Contest, applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

  • Be a citizen of a Nigerian.
  • Be a 100 or 200 level student in public and private tertiary institutions in Nigeria-Universities. Polytechnics and Colleges of Education
  • Participants must provide valid student ID, upload admission letter, and a recent passport photograph during registration.
  • All essays must be original works specifically written for the competition
  • Co-authorship of essay is not permitted.
  • Entrants are to submit only one entry
  • Manuscripts must not exceed 1,500 words.
  • Current contact information of each entrant including phone number and email address must accompany the manuscripts
  • Entrants’ names shall not appear on the manuscript but to be on a separate title page 
  • Hard copy submission will not be accepted.

To complete your application, prepare the following documents in advance:

  • Valid student ID
  • Admission letter
  • A recent passport photograph
