University of Leeds School of Computer Science Scholarship Details
The University of Leeds School of Computer Science is seeking a talented researcher to join its research community through this competitive studentship.
The funded project focuses on mixed precision methods for numerical linear algebra at exascale. The research is connected to the growing use of high-performance computing hardware accelerators originally developed for artificial intelligence applications.
The project investigates how numerical methods can make effective use of different levels of computational precision while addressing the accuracy requirements of scientific computing.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr Massimiliano Fasi in the School of Computer Science

University of Leeds School of Computer Science Scholarship Requirements
To be eligible for the University of Leeds School of Computer Science Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
- Applications are open to either International or UK Fee rated applicants.
- Candidates who have previously been awarded a PhD or are currently registered on a PhD are excluded from applying. Those who were previously studying for a PhD but did not complete may be considered.
- Award must be taken up by 1st February 2027.
- Applicants must live within a reasonable distance of the University of Leeds whilst in receipt of this scholarship.
- Applicants to research degree programmes should normally have a first class or an upper second class British Bachelors Honours degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline.
- Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the University’s English-language requirements which is an IELTS of 6.5 overall with at least 6.5 in writing and 6.0 in other components (reading, listening and speaking) or equivalent.
- The test must be dated within two years of the start date of the course in order to be valid.
