La Trobe University Scholarship 2027 Details
La Trobe University recognises the important contribution that people from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds make to the Australian community.
As such, it is pleased to offer two specific scholarships in Semester 1 2027. There are two methods of applying, depending on which visa you hold.
The La Trobe Humanitarian Scholarship (International) is for face-to-face undergraduate studies, will cover all tuition costs and include an AUD $5000 annual cost-of-living scholarship for the normal duration of their degree. Applications for 2027 will open 12 October – 6 December 2026.

La Trobe University Humanitarian Scholarship Benefits
Selected awardees receive a comprehensive financial package that removes financial barriers:
- Full University Tuition Fees: Covered in full for any eligible one-year undergraduate program.
- Living Stipend: Generous living allowance AUD $5000 annually
La Trobe University Scholarship Requirements
To be considered for the 2027 La Trobe University Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following criteria:
- Be residing in Australia
- Submit an application using the online application form which will be made available 12 October 2026 – 6 December 2026
- Be deemed as a person seeking asylum or a refugee holding one of the following:
- Temporary Protection Visa (TPV) (V785)
- Temporary Humanitarian Stay visa (Subclass 449)
- Temporary Humanitarian Concern visa (Subclass 786)
- Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (SHEV) (V790)
- Anyone on a bridging visa and who has applied for a Permanent Protection visa (subclass 866).
- Bridging Visa E (BVE) (subclass 050)
- Enrolled in Semester 1 2027 as a full-time student in an undergraduate degree offered by La Trobe University*
- completion of the online scholarship application form
- successfully receiving a course offer and enrolling in Semester 1 2027 as a full-time student in an undergraduate degree
Please note students enrolled in Open Universities Australia, third-party providers and online courses are not eligible.

- Visit the official scholarship portal (Click the link below).
- Domestic students: Submit an application via the VTAC Schemes and Scholarships application portal. Applications close 9 October 2026 at 5pm.
- International students: An online application form will be made available on 12 October 2026. Scholarship applications will not be assessed until a course offer is confirmed.
