The KAIST Undergraduate Scholarship will cater for the tuition and medical insurance costs throughout the period of study (usually 8 semesters), and will also provide a monthly stipend of KRW300,000.

KAIST Undergraduate Scholarship Details

The Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) offers the KAIST Undergraduate Scholarship to undergraduate international students. 

KAIST international Scholarships are very competitive and once a student is selected by KAIST, his/her tuition fee is waived off and he/she will get scholarship based on KAIST policies.

KAIST welcomes applications from all over the world. Eligible international undergraduate applicants wishing to study at KAIST are invited to apply for the KAIST International Student Scholarship as they apply for their course. You can choose to apply either for SPRING semester or Fall semester.

2027 KAIST Scholarship Requirements

To be eligible for the 2027 KAIST Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be an international applicant
  • Applicants who have graduated or will graduate from high school by February 28, 2027.
  • Applicants who hold Korean Citizenship (including dual citizenship) are NOT eligible to apply as international students.
  • Meet the University’s minimum admissions requirements (for program/discipline-specific information,
  • Maintain a  minimum CGPA OF 2.7 to be eligible for the scholarship renewal.

The Korean Institute of Advanced Science and Technology offers a wide range of academic programmes for undergraduates.

All of these programmes are available for the KAIST Program provided the applicant satisfy the eligibility requirements.

KAIST Undergraduate Scholarship Benefits and Timeline

KAIST Scholarship covering entire tuition fee for 4 years once admitted. Includes:

  • Full tuition fee: tuition exemption for 8 semesters
  • Living expenses: 350,000 KRW per month
  • National Health insurance

The scholarship is valid and renewable throughout the period of study depending on your chosen programme.

  • Application Form
  • High School and University Transcripts
  • Copy of Passport or National ID
  • Standardized Test Score Reports (e.g., SAT, ACT, AP, IB, GCE A-Level, or other national high school leaving or university entrance examinations)
  • English Proficiency Test (EPT) Score Reports (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC or TEPS)
  • Letters of Recommendation (Highly recommended, Up to Two)
  • Honors and Awards
  • High School Profile
  • School Report
  • Certificate of Entry and Exit (issued by the Korean Immigration Office) (Required for Korean Origin Only)
  • Certificate of Loss of Korean Nationality (Required for Korean Origin Only)

How To Apply for the 2027 KAIST Undergraduate Scholarship

Follow the procedures below to submit your application for the 2027 KAIST Undergraduate Scholarship Program;

  • There is no separate process for applying for the scholarship. Just check “KAIST scholarship” in the Statement of Financial Resources section on the online application for admission.
  • Create an account and complete the online application form
  • Ensure that all required fields are filled out and properly saved.
  • Submit required documents: Upload scanned copies of all required documents to the application by the application
    deadline.
  • Review the application: Before proceeding, carefully review the application to ensure
  • Pay the application fee: USD 80
  • Once the application fee is paid, the application cannot be deleted or cancelled. However, it is still
    possible to update or modify the application during the application period.
  • Attend an online interview (If required): Interviews may be conducted if deemed necessary. Selected applicants will be contacted individually via email with further instructions
