International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship 2026 Details

The Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) has established the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship.

The CLCE Scholarship aims to address the growing international demand for Chinese language teachers, facilitate the global development of Chinese language education, and support the professional development of Chinese language teachers.

The program offers scholarships in two main categories: degree programs and advanced training programs.

The program also funds outstanding young people to pursue degrees and undertake short-term training in China, and supports the development of an international pool of Chinese language teachers.

Fully Funded Chinese Language Scholarship Benefits

International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship offers:

  • full coverage on tuition fee,
  • on-campus accommodation,
  • living allowance (monthly stipend of 2500 RMB for one-academic-year study students per person and one-semester study students per person) and
  • comprehensive medical insurance expenses (400 RMB for one-semester study students per person, 800 RMB annually for one-academic-year study students per person).

CLCE Scholarship Types and Qualifications

  • Scholarship for One-Year Study Program (Chinese Language Study): The program commences in September 2026, and provides a scholarship for a maximum of 11 months.
    • Applicants are required to get a minimum score of 210 in HSK 3, and priority is given to those who have an HSKK test score. In principle, applicants who have received a similar scholarship within three years are not eligible for the One-Year Study Program.
  • Scholarship for One-Semester Study Program (Chinese Language Study): The program commences either in September 2026 or March 2027, and provides a scholarship of a maximum of 5 months.
    • Applicants are required to get a minimum score of 180 in HSK 3, and an HSKK test score is also required. In principle, applicants who have received a similar scholarship within three years are not eligible for the One-Semester Study Program.

Fully Funded Chinese Language Scholarship Requirements

To be eligible for the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Be non-Chinese citizens;
  • Maintain a friendly attitude toward China, have no criminal record, and abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and the rules and regulations of the Host Institution;
  • Be in good physical and mental health, and demonstrate strong academic performance and conduct;

  • Be committed to working in Chinese language education, teaching, and related fields;
  • Be between the ages of 16 and 35 (as of September 1, 2026). The age limit is extended to 45 for in-service Chinese language teachers
