ICP Connect Scholarship 2025: Are you looking to move to Europe through scholarships?
You can apply for the 2024 Hasselts University Scholarship as an international student from a developing country to study a Masters degree in the Belgian University.
The scholarship guarantees you a monthly stipend that amounts to 13 200 Euros per year to cater for your accommodation, transportation and living expenses.
You are also eligible to get a 1- time payment for indirect travel costs: € 150, a 1- time payment for logistical allowance: € 850, and the total costs of Insurance, international travel and tuition fee.

ICP Connect Scholarship 2025 Details
The Hasselts University Scholarship offers students from developing countries a scholarship to obtain a master’s degree in Transportation Sciences (specialization: Road Safety). Applications are now open.
The ICP “Master of Transportation Sciences – Road Safety in Low & Middle Income Countries” is a 2-year multidisciplinary master programme with a unique focus and approach to Road Safety in Developing Countries.
Students are trained to identify transportation and road safety issues in order to create innovative solutions by using an integrative approach based on three pillars: the individual (dealing with the human behaviour in traffic and how to influence it
The scholarships are funded by VLIR-UOS. Each year 10 (two-year) scholarships are allocated to the 10 top-ranked applications.
Hasselts University Scholarship Requirements
Participants of the ICP Connect Scholarship should have at least an academic bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines:
- behavioral sciences: psychology, sociology
- political and social sciences
- mathematical and statistical sciences
- economy, transport economy
- transport or traffic planning, urban planning or design, geography, (urban) architecture
- engineering: transport engineer, civil engineer
- Minimum grade obtained: distinction
- A Bachelor of Technology or HND degree is not sufficient for admission to our MSc programme.
You can only apply for a scholarship if you meet all VLIR-UOS scholarship criteria:
- Nationality and country of residence: A candidate should be a national and resident of one of the 29 eligible countries (nationality and country of residence not necessarily the same) at the time of the application, see VLIR-UOS country list.
- Age: The maximum age is 35 (on 1st January 2023).
- Professional background and experience: Preference will be given to candidates employed in higher education, government or civil society, or those targeting a career in one of these sectors. Candidates employed in the private sector or newly graduated candidates with no work experience may also be considered if they provide a strong motivation and profile.
- VLIR-UOS scholarship applications: Candidates may apply for only one ICP Connect scholarship application per year.

Hasselts University Scholarship Benefits and Timeline
Costs covered by the scholarship: VLIR-UOS scholarships cover tuition fee, travel costs, insurance and livelihood (board and lodging). The ICP Connect Scholarship will only be provided for the full duration of the master programme (24months).
The holders of the Hasselts University Scholarship will receive holistic support which includes:
- Monthly allowance: € 1150/month (for cost of meals, transport, personal expenses and accommodation)
- 1- time payment for indirect travel costs: € 150
- 1- time paymnt for logistical allowance: € 850
- Insurance, international travel and tuition fee

How To apply for ICP Connect Scholarship in Belgium 2025
A complete application for the 2025 ICP Connect Scholarship consists of the following two parts:
- Online Application
- Document Verification (Digital Verification/Direct Email Verification/Certified Hard Copies)

- Only complete and admissible applications that reach us before the application deadline will be taken into consideration.
- A ranking will be made. The top 10 applicants will receive a scholarship.
- There will also be a waiting list of eligible candidates who ranked between 10 to max. 20.
- Applicants who have been granted a scholarship will be informed by VLIR-UOS via email between the end of May and mid-June 2025.
- Applicants who have not been granted a scholarship will be informed by Hasselt University in the same time frame.
- Applicants who are not granted a scholarship, but are academically admissible, will be given the opportunity to be admitted to the non-scholarship master in Transportation Sciences.
