The GTCO Squad Hackathon 3.0, officially titled “Take on Squad Hackathon 3.0,” was launched by Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO) and its fintech subsidiary, HabariPay, on April 2, 2026.

This year, we’re pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. The theme “Smart Systems: The Intelligent Economy” is a call to action for the boldest, most curious minds in Nigerian universities.

University students across Nigeria, this is your call to design and build intelligent data driven solutions that reshape how communities interact with money.

Teams are expected to develop practical and scalable solutions across the following focus areas:

  • AI Automation: Create systems that simplify and automate financial operations for better efficiency

  • Predictive AI Tools: Build intelligent solutions that detect risks, enhance security, and improve decision-making in financial services

  • Squad API Integration: Use Squad’s infrastructure to design innovative and scalable fintech applications

  • Financial Innovation: Develop creative ideas that improve how individuals and communities send, receive, and manage money

GTCO Squad Hackathon 3.0 Benefits

GTCO Squad Hackathon 3.0 offers the winners:

  • 1st Prize: ₦5,000,000 (shared among team members) + media exposure

2026 GTCO Squad Hackathon Requirements

To be eligible for the GTCO Squad Hackathon, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a recognized university in Nigeria
  • Must form a team of 2 to 4 members
  • Teams can include members from different academic disciplines
  • At least one team member must have a technical background such as engineering, computer science, or data science
  • Each participant must possess a valid student ID
