Ewgis is dedicated to supporting and nurturing young women aspiring to excel in academics and research within STEM fields.
The program offers participants the unique opportunity to actively engage in faculty-led theoretical research projects while providing essential mentorship, networking, and skill development avenues.
What To Expect: Ewgis 2024 Dual Editions
Ewgis 2024 unfolds in two editions: the Professional Development Program and the Research Institute.
Both editions share a common goal of empowering young women in STEM through mentorship, skill development workshops, networking opportunities, and insights from accomplished women in STEM.
Professional Development Program: Crafting Future STEM Leaders

Application Requirements
- Ewgis invites high school juniors to college juniors with majors or intended majors in specified STEM disciplines.
- While a preferred GPA of at least 3.0 is encouraged for mentee applicants, it is not mandatory.
- Commitment to 4 hours of independent work on the project and 2 hours of weekly meetings with mentors for a total of 6 hours per week over 2 months is expected.
Ewgis Institute Professional Program Selection Process
- Inclusive approach focusing on dedication, motivation, and potential for success
- Priority given to applicants from low-income families
- Selection based on demonstrated motivation and compatibility
- Decisions made by the Girls in STEM team are final

- Jan 25th–February 29th: Applications Open
- Mar 1st – Mar 7th: Results Announcement
- Mar 14th: Ewgis Opening Ceremony
- Mar 15th – May 9th: Program Duration
- May 10th: Ewgis Closing Ceremony
