European Union Traineeship Program Delegation to African Union Details
Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about the work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values of the African Union?
A traineeship of up to 6 months within the Political, Press and Information – PPI Section of the EU Delegation to the African Union, starting in November 2025
The Green and Digital Economy Section of the EU Delegation is in charge of managing projects and programs spanning the sectors of: agriculture, climate, renewable energy and energy efficiency, circular economy, innovation and digitalization, youth employment, MSMEs, and investment.
European Union Traineeship Benefits
A Traineeship of up to 6 months offers the following benefits;
- Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses.
- On average, trainees can expect to receive approximately €700 per month.
- This financial support is designed to help cover living expenses during the traineeship.
- The European Union traineeship is to be held for up to 6 months within the Political, Press, and Information Section of the EU Delegation to the African Union in May 2026.

European Union Traineeship Program Requirements
To be eligible for the European Union Traineeship Program, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
- Taking into account the local health and security conditions, applicants currently residing in Ethiopia will only be considered
- Master’s degree in political science, international relations, economics, law or other social studies
- Candidates must have less than one year of professional experience after graduation by the signing date of the traineeship agreement (other traineeships or student jobs or volunteering works carried out during university or after graduation are not considered as professional experience).
- Fluency in English
- Excellent analytical, drafting and communication skills
- Excellent capacity in editing and producing Audiovisual, social media and communication products and in using Canva or other edition and designing platforms
- Excellent analytical and drafting skills, a keen understanding of and interest in African Union’s politics, economics and governance
- A hands-on, pro-active, reliable attitude, an openness to learning, and willingness to contribute with ideas.
