CBIAS Undergraduate Scholarship 2027 Details

The ERPAAN CBIAS Undergraduate Research Scholarship is managed by the Emerging Researchers & Professionals in Ageing-African Network (ERPAAN).

This scholarship aims to stimulate problem identifying and solving approach for students and researchers across the sub-Saharan region of Africa.

Focus: Ageing research, older adult care, community development, and health challenges or solutions relevant to Sub-Saharan Africa.

The applicants will demonstrate high academic achievement, a proven interest in ageing research, strong work ethics and a desire to collaborate with diverse disciplines and to participate in research activities with potential benefits to older adults.

ERPAAN CBIAS Scholarship Program Benefits

Selected awardees receive a comprehensive financial and professional that includes:

• Research cost support. Up to CAD250 for postgraduate and up to ₦100,000 for undergraduates
• Guidance on securing funding for the future research process. 
• Problem-based, evidence-based and reflective process of conducting research. 
• Opportunities to attend a conference and meet with peers and colleagues. 
• Attracts more opportunity for collaboration with ERPAAN in their respective ongoing research.

Chevening Scholarship Requirements

To be considered for the 2027 award, applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

• Must be a citizen or permanent resident of any country within the sub-Saharan region of Africa.
• Must be in the first year of their master’s program for postgraduate students and final year for undergraduates.
• Must have identified a faculty member (Lecturer) that will be willing to supervise his/her final year project.
• Must be willing to be trained on the e-Delphi methodology which the study must adopt.
• Identify a problem in any community in Nigeria that relates to older adults, provide a research proposal stating the community problems, research questions, methodology to employ to answer the question, anticipated benefits.(final year undergraduates)
• Be available to participate in an online Zoom meeting with the members of ERPAAN when invited. 
• Prepare to present the proposal to the ERPAAN on your first visit through a Virtual platform. 
• Provide a report outlining project outcomes and/or future steps, as follows:
  • (a) the proposal and rationale for conducting the study and research questions, 
  • (b) data collection and analysis phase
  • (c) result and
  • (d) dissemination process.
• Be willing to prepare and present your research findings at a national or international conference (if needed). 
• Prepare a manuscript for publication in a reputable peer-reviewed journal. 
• Be available to participate in a mentorship program. to the older adults in the community, and research dissemination plans.
