Baylor University Graduate Scholarship Details

The Global Ecology and Conservation Lab at Baylor University is seeking a highly motivated candidate for a fully funded PhD position beginning in Fall 2026.

The selected candidate will develop and lead innovative, interdisciplinary research to address complex socio-ecological challenges at the food-water-climate nexus.

The student will work collaboratively with partners to develop equitable solutions to global change of freshwater habitats, biodiversity, and provisioning services using advanced quantitative and remote sensing techniques.

The student is encouraged to develop research in an area of high conservation priority. In addition to a dissertation, the student will be expected to produce peer-reviewed publications and disseminate research findings to scientific and non-scientific audiences and relevant stakeholders.

Baylor University Graduate Scholarship 2026 Benefits

The Baylor University Scholarship is a fully funded graduate assistantship that offers;

  • Annual stipend (starting at $33,000) for up to five years;
  • plus tuition,
  • fees, and
  • health insurance.

  • climate adaptation and resilience
  • coupled human-natural systems

Baylor University Graduate Scholarship Requirements

To be eligible for the Baylor University PhD Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Meet the entry requirements for a PhD degree at the university
  • Meet the English Language requirements of the institution.
  • M.S. in fisheries and wildlife, natural resource management, ecology, environmental science, data science or other related fields (GPA > 3.5) 
  • High proficiency in quantitative ecology, including data management, data visualization, advanced statistical analysis, GIS, and computational modeling in R and/or Python. 
  • Strong scientific writing skills with a track record of peer-reviewed publications 
  • Demonstrated experience leading community-engaged, actionable scientific research with diverse partners in international and/or community-based settings 
  • High proficiency in English (TOEFL iBT score > 90, IELTS band score > 7.0)
