American University Global Leader Scholarship Requirements
To be eligible for the undergraduate American University Global Leader Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
International Students: The scholarship is open to international students, especially those who have overcome obstacles and hail from diverse and underrepresented global and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Academic Excellence: Candidates should showcase an exceptional academic record with a minimum GPA of 3.8 (or be in the top 10% of their graduating class) for grades 9th through 12th.
Passion for Leadership: An essential requirement is a dedication to leadership, volunteerism, community service, and a commitment to addressing the needs of people in their home country.
English Proficiency: Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English. Preferred test scores include:
- A TOEFL iBT score of 95 or higher with all subscores at 20 or above.
- Paper-based TOEFL score of 24 or higher (taken after May 31, 2017).
- An IELTS score of 7.0 or higher with all subscores at 6.0 or above.
- A minimum SAT Reading subscore of 33.

The application process for the AU EGL Scholarship is as follows:
Complete the Online Application: Beginning on September 15, 2024, the online application will be accessible. Ensure that you thoroughly complete all required sections.
Financial Documentation: Submit a bank letter and the AU Certification of Finances (AU CFIS) form, each showing a minimum of U.S. $4,000.
English Proficiency Test Scores: Provide your official TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo English, PTE, or Cambridge Assessment English Test scores by December 15, 2024, at the latest.
