Details of Airtel Africa Fellowship / 2026 Airtel Fellowship Program

Airtel Africa Foundation (the “Foundation”) is the philanthropic arm of Airtel Africa plc, a leading provider of telecommunications and mobile money services, with a presence in 14 countries in Africa.

The foundation launched the “Airtel Africa Tech Fellowship” program to support young Africans from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue higher education in STEM, as part of the Foundation’s broader goal of increasing the proportion of African youth with advanced Tech skills and shaping the next generation of tech leaders from the continent. 

The Foundation is partnering with selected Universities to support meritorious African students who secure admission for a tech-related undergraduate program.

2026 Airtel Africa Scholarship Benefits

  • The Airtel Africa Scholarship will cover the full fees of tuition, living stipend, and accommodation fees for the full duration of the Bachelor of Tech, Science, and Engineering programs for 4- 5 years.
  • In Nigeria, the fellowship will support at least 100 students per year.

The Airtel Africa Fellowship will welcome applications from candidates pursuing tech-related disciplines.

The program will be open to students of the following seven public universities in Nigeria:

  • University of Lagos (UNILAG)
  • University of Nigeria (UNN)
  • Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU)
  • University of Benin (UNIBEN)
  • Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU)
  • University of Ilorin (UNILORIN)
  • Tai Solarin University of Education (TASEUD)

2026 Airtel Africa Scholarship Requirements

To be eligible for the undergraduate Airtel Africa Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Be an undergraduate student admitted into any one of the 7 participating public universities.
  • Be a 100-level (new entrant) student of one of the participating universities
  • Not be a recipient of any other fellowship/scholarship/grants for the same purposes as being supported by Airtel Africa Foundation.
  • Demonstrate financial need to be eligible for the program.
  • Posses 5 credits, including English and mathematics, in one sitting.
  • Have JAMB results and an admission letter, a School ID card & WAEC certificate/ result to be shortlisted    
  • Scored a minimum of 230 in JAMB

Required Documents for Airtel Fellowship 2026

While applying for the Airtel Fellowship 2025, you will be required to submit the following documents;

  • Complete Application Form
  • Recent passport-sized photograph of the applicant in JPEG format, not more than 200kilobytes;
  • University Admission Letter;
  • Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) Result;
  • O’ Level Result(s); and ‘A’ Level /OND /NCE Result(s) as applicable;
