Google DeepMind AI Scholarship Details

Applications for the 2026 AIMS Google DeepMind Scholarships are open to students from across Africa who are passionate about mathematics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

The AI for Science Master’s program is a stream in AIMS South Africa‘s Master’s degree in Mathematical Science, made possible through a partnership with Google DeepMind.

Google and AIMS are looking for students who gaze at the stars and the world around them in wonder, and who want to use their talents to accelerate scientific discovery to award these scholarships.

Google DeepMind AI Scholarship 2026 Requirements

The Google DeepMind AI Scholarship has the following eligiblity requirements;

  • be a resident in Africa at time of application*,

  • be a citizen of any country in Africa,

  • have completed a four-year undergraduate degree or a three-year undergraduate degree with an honors year by August 2026 (or December 2026 for southern African applicants.

  • not have held a previous scholarship to study at an AIMS center.

Your undergraduate degree could be in physics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, or any other discipline with a strong computational and mathematical component.

2026 AIMS Google DeepMind Scholarship Benefits and Timeline

  • The scholarships are designed to provide comprehensive financial support, covering tuition, stipends or living costs, and grants for necessary equipment and attendance at academic conferences.
  • Scholars generally receive financial support for the entire duration of their study, starting from the year they join their course.

How To Apply for AIMS Google DeepMind Scholarships 2026

To apply for the AIMS Google DeepMind Scholarship, interested and qualified candidates should;

  • Read the details we have provided on this page and ensure their eligibility.
  • Click the button below to visit the scholarship webpage

  • Register at apply.aims.ac.za and upload the following documents there before 11:59 PM on 6 March 2026:

    • Your curriculum vitae

    • A motivation letter of around 500 words

    • Academic transcripts

    • Written mathematics questions (to be found on the application site)

    • Coding problem (to be found on the application site)

     

  • The online application includes a dozen short mathematics questions and one coding problem. It’s not an exam, but the questions give the selection panel some insight into how you approach problems.

  • The final round consists of short online interviews in May 2026.
