Delta State University, Abraka, spearheaded by the visionary Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Andy Ogochukwu Egwunyenga, extends a warm invitation to eligible undergraduate students of Delta State University and those of Delta State origin.
The call is for applications to the esteemed DELSU Scholarship Programme, a testament to the university’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility and the provision of accessible, quality education for the people of Delta State.
Delta State University, popularly known as DELSU, stands as a beacon of academic excellence. Established by the State government, DELSU operates with a multi-campus system, boasting campuses in Abraka, Anwai (Asaba), and Oleh.
The institution, with a student population of approximately 22,000, offers a diverse range of programs, including full-time certificate, diploma, and degree courses, as well as part-time evening and weekend degree programs.
Objective: The DELSU Indigent Students’ Scholarship Program aligns with the university’s Corporate Social Responsibility goals, focusing on providing financial support to indigent students.
This initiative seeks to address barriers to education by covering school fees and third-party payments, such as INTERKEL.
DELSU Scholarship Program Requirements
To be considered for the DELSU Scholarship Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Indigent status with evidence of indigency (e.g., a history of withdrawal from studies due to financial constraints)
- Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0
- Consideration of personal and parental circumstances, such as ill health, disabilities, unemployment, and family challenges
- Advantage for candidates actively engaged in Community Voluntary Services despite indigency
- Ineligibility for students already enjoying scholarships from the State or other sources
- For 100 level applicants: Selection of Delta State University, Abraka, as the first choice in JAMB, and a minimum weighted average score of 52 in POST UTME
