UBA Foundation Essay Competition Details
The 2025 UBA Foundation Essay Competition is a national essay competition targeted at talented and brilliant senior secondary students in Nigeria who are able to write essays on trending national topics.
The contest is organised annually, as part of UBA Foundation’s education initiative which aims to promote the reading culture and encourage healthy and intellectual competition amongst secondary school students in Nigeria and across Africa.
UBA Foundation Essay Competition Requirements
To be eligible for the UBA Foundation Essay Competition, applicants:
- Must be a Nigerian Senior Secondary school student
- Must submit a passport photograph
- Must submit a scanned copy of a means of identification (birth certificate, National ID, or passport)
- Must submit their essay entry before the deadline.

- The UBA Foundation Essay Competition is providing funds up to ₦10,000,000.00 to successful entries of the competition as thus;
- ₦10,000,000.00 + Award + Przes (Winner)
- ₦7,500,000.00 + Award + Prizes (1st Runner-up)
- ₦5,000,000.00 + Award + Prizes (2nd Runner-Up)
- Please note that these funds will be awarded as an educational grant towards pursuing an undergraduate degree at any African Institution of choice for the winner.
