Is Google Gemini Pro Free for African Students?

The distinction between Google's AI plans is important.

Google's previous 2025 student promotion offered eligible university students in selected African countries a free 12-month Google AI Pro plan. However, Google's newer August 2026 announcement describes the current offer for eligible students outside the United States as Google AI Plus.

Therefore, students should not assume that the current African offer includes every benefit of Google AI Pro. The plan displayed during the official claim process determines what they receive.

When Is the Deadline to Claim the Offer?

The published terms for Google's 2026 student offer state that eligible students can redeem the offer until December 31, 2026.

Students should claim it before that date if it is available to them. Google may update its terms, eligibility conditions, or regional availability, so confirm the latest information on the official student page before applying.

The current announcement describes Google AI Plus for eligible students outside the United States. Google AI Pro is a different plan, so confirm which offer is displayed for your country.
