Intra Africa Academic Mobility Scheme 2027 Details

PERI-ACE, meaning Partners Enhancing Resilience through African Centres of Excellence, promotes collaboration among African Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and facilitates academic mobility across the continent.

The initiative brings together institutions from different African countries to strengthen education, research and professional development. Stellenbosch University in South Africa serves as the lead institution and hosts the programme secretariat.

Activities under PERI-ACE are organised around four climate sub-themes that guide mobility, research and curriculum design across all partner institutions:

1. Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security for enhancing the adaptive capacities of farming systems to cope with climate variability.
2. Water Resource Management in addressing challenges in access, quality and management of water resources in a changing climate.
3. Renewable Energy and Green Solutions for promoting innovations in renewable energy to support climate resilience.
4. Disaster Risk Reduction and Management for strengthening community preparedness and responses to climate-induced disasters.

2026 INTRA AFRICA PERI-ACE Scholarship Benefits

Selected awardees receive a comprehensive financial package that removes financial barriers:

• Visa Application Fee: Complete reimbursement for student visa application.
• Full University Tuition Fees: Covered in full for any eligible two-year Master’s program.
• Monthly Living Stipend: Generous living allowance to cover accommodation and food.
• Airfare: Flight tickets from your home country.
• Arrival & Departure Allowances: Additional grants for settling in and departure expenses.
• Female allowance paid annually
• Printing and similar academic costs; research and fieldwork expenses

Intra Africa Academic Mobility Scheme Requirements

To be considered for the 2026 award, applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

• You must be a citizen of an African country.
• You must be legally resident in an African country at the time of your application
• Be a student registered at, or an alumnus who obtained their degree from, one of the 6 official partner universities (Stellenbosch, Addis Ababa, Cheikh Anta Diop, Ardhi, 2iE, or Eduardo Mondlane)
• Be a student registered at, or an alumnus who obtained their degree from, any other registered higher education institution in Africa
• Hold a degree from a core African institution within the PERI-ACE consortium.
