The Tertiary Institutions Staff Support Fund (TISSF) is an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education to support academic and non-academic staff of tertiary institutions.

The Federal Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa, has launched the Tertiary Institutions Staff Support Fund (TISSF) — an interest-free loan scheme of up to ₦10m for academic & non-academic staff nationwide.

Powered by the Federal Ministry of Education, TETFund, and the Bank of Industry, the scheme covers medical care, housing, transport, small businesses, farming & academic growth.

According to the Ministry, the fund is a welfare-based loan initiative that will assist academic and non-academic staff in achieving financial stability and career progress.

Benefits of the Federal Government Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF)

  • The FG Tertiary Institutions Staff Support Fund (TISSF) offers a ₦10m loan for selected candidates.
  • The loan is charged at zero (0%) interest.
  • Repayment is after 5 years, with a 1-year break before you start.
  • Staff members will be eligible to receive up to N10 million, calculated at a limit of 33.3% of their gross annual salary.

To be satisfy the Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF) requirements, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Be a Nigerian
  • Be a confirmed academic or a non-academic staff member of a tertiary institution – university, polytechnic, or college of education.
  • Be members of all relevant staff associations, with at least 5 years to retirement

Eligible Institutions for Federal Government Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF)

The following are the eligible institutions for the Federal Government Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF);

  • federal universities,
  • federal polytechnics,
  • federal colleges of education, and;
  • one state university, polytechnic, and college of education per state.

  • Medical Support
    Financial help for urgent emergencies, critical surgeries, and essential medication to ease long-term health-related burdens.
  • Family Support
    Support for home rent, essential renovations, and secure home ownership to greatly improve living conditions.
  • Transport Support
    Support automobile acquisition, including EVs, Bikes, Tricycles, maintenance, and support for CNG Conversion
  • SME Support
    Poultry, fishing, crop farming, animal husbandry, and cottage agro-processing.
  • Academic Advancement
    Funding for academic programs, certifications, and skill development to advance careers and boost institutional impact.
  • Accommodation Support
    We offer financial aid for rent, renovations, and home or land ownership to improve staff living conditions.

Repayments will be deducted monthly from your salary through your institution’s bursary department.
