NLNG Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme (UGSS) Details

In line with its dedication to education and human capital development, NLNG invites applications from first year students in the 2025/2026 academic session for the 2026 Undergraduate Scholarship Award.

This NLNG Undergraduate Scholarship initiative is designed to support exceptional first-year students (in 2024/2025 academic session) in Nigerian Universities, equipping them with the resources to excel academically and contribute to national development. 

The NLNG is also providing a UGSS Special Edition for its Host Communities.

NLNG is committed to fostering an inclusive scholarship programme and encourages applications from all eligible students, including Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWDs).

The NKNG Undergraduate Scholarship recipients will receive a sum of ₦300,000 for an academic year and it runs throughout the duration of the student’s course.

Available Programmes for NLNG Scholarship 2026

There are no specific courses eligible for the NLNG scholarship. All accredited courses offered by recognized Nigerian federal and state universities can be applied to the scholarship.

2026 NLNG Scholarships Requirements

To be eligible for the undergraduate NLNG Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Be a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and currently residing in the country.
  • Be a full-time first-year undergraduate student in the 2025/2026 academic session at a federal or state-owned university in Nigeria.
  • Have obtained a minimum of five O’Level credits, including Mathematics and English, in one sitting (WASC, SSCE, or NECO).
  • Have scored a minimum of 200 in the JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
  • Aged between 18 and 25 years at the time of application.
  • Must not be a beneficiary of any other scholarship, bursary, or grant from any organisation.
  • Must not be a spouse, child, ward, or direct relation of an NLNG staff.

Required Documents for NLNG Scholarship 2026

While applying for the 2026 NLNG Scholarships, you will be required to submit the following documents;

  • Complete Application Form
  • Passport photograph with white background not more than 3 months old (450px by 450px not more than 200kb)
  • O-Level and UTME results
  • University and JAMB Admission letter
  • University student ID card
  • National Population Commission Issued Birth certificate
  • Local Government Area (LGA) letter of identification
  • National ID Number (NIN) Slip

For Students from Host Communities;

  • Local Government Area (LGA) letter of identification
  • Complete academic transcripts from 100 level to the most recent academic year, signed and stamped by the university’s registry, exams unit, or the appropriate authority.
  • Community letter of identification signed by a Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman or paramount ruler/king.

How To Apply for NLNG Undergraduate Scholarship 2026

To apply for the NLNG Undergraduate Scholarship, follow the instructions we have outlined below; 

  • Read the information we have provided on this webpage and ensure your eligibility
  • You are to apply using your registered Email address and Mobile number.
  • Apply online via the NLNG Scholarship Portal by filling in all required fields.
  • Upload a recent passport photo (no glasses) and copies of WAEC/NECO/SSCE and JAMB UTME results, JAMB Admission Letter, LGA Identification, and Birth Certificate.
  • Eligible applicants will be invited to take a computer-based Online Proctored Selection Test. NOTE: only shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in this test.
  • Qualified candidates will be notified to submit an additional set of mandatory documents after the test.
  • Scholarships will be awarded only to candidates who satisfy all eligibility criteria and selection requirements.
