The entirety of the costs of your tuition, accommodation, 143,000 JPY living expenses, and comprehensive medical insurance during the corresponding academic period are covered by the scholarship.
This MEXT Scholarships is an initiative by the Japanese Government. It’s aimed at Primary and Secondary school teachers who wish to pursue teacher training and Japanese language courses in Japan.

Government of Japan MEXT Scholarships Requirements
To be eligible for the Japanese Government MEXT Scholarships, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
- Nationality Requirements: Applicants should be nationals of countries holding diplomatic ties with Japan. Dual nationals must renounce their Japanese citizenship by the time they arrive in Japan.
- Age Limit: Candidates should be born on or after April 2, 1990.
- Academic and Professional Background: Must be graduates of universities or teacher training colleges with a minimum five-year teaching experience as of April 1, 2025.
- Japanese Language Proficiency: A strong willingness to learn Japanese is required.
- Health Standards: Medical fitness, as confirmed by a certified health certificate, is mandatory.
- Arrival in Japan: Arrival must align with the designated period, usually two weeks before the course starts.
- Visa Requirements: Must obtain a “Student” visa prior to entering Japan and maintain this status.

Scholarship Value
- Monthly Allowance: 143,000 yen, with potential regional additions.
- Travel to Japan: An economy-class air ticket will be provided from the nearest international airport in the recipient’s home country to Japan.
- Return Travel: Post-scholarship, an economy-class ticket is provided for the return journey.
- Educational Expenses: Entrance, matriculation, and tuition fees are covered by the Japanese Government.
Duration of Scholarship
The scholarship spans between October 2026 (or the starting month of the course) and March 2028.
